The Ghana Premier League has secured its most lucrative television broadcasting deal in history, with a major Pan-African broadcaster agreeing to a five-year contract worth an estimated forty million dollars. The deal guarantees live coverage of every match, pre-match and post-match analysis, and a dedicated weekly highlights programme. It represents a transformative moment for professional football in Ghana.
The broadcasting agreement was negotiated by the Ghana Football Association in partnership with the clubs, who will receive a significant share of the revenue. Under the terms of the deal, each Premier League club will receive an annual payment that league officials say will help address long-standing issues with player wages, facility maintenance, and youth development at the club level. The improved financial stability is expected to reduce the exodus of talented players to foreign leagues.
Production quality is a key component of the agreement.
