The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has revealed intentions to aid this year’s ‘Chale Wote’ Street Arts Festival with a whooping amount of ¢300,000.
Additionally, considering the large number of peoople who throng to the event venue(Jamestown) annually, the Ministry vowed to ensure the safety of patrons this year.
The allocated amount is expected to give the traditional festival which projected the country’s creative arts potentials positively to the global audience a facelift and maintain its consistency.
Making the announcement in an interview with Ghana News Agency, Madam Catherine Abelema Afeku stated:“We’re giving them financial support, publicity and the Ministry’s ambit because it’s one of the major festivals for young people to showcase their visual and creative arts skills and increase the package to one million Ghana Cedis.”
This year’s edition of the festival organised by Accra Dot Alt slated for August 20-26, 2018, is a platform that brings art, music, design, dance and performance on the streets.
For the past 8years, the ‘Chale Wote’ Arts Festival has attracted people from across the globe to one of Ghana’s historical hubs to witness our rich Ghanaian/African culture with a creativity package.
