Nana Kweku Okyere Duah, popularly known in music circles as Tic, has called on all Ghanaian artistes to stop imitating foreign musicians.
According to him, most Ghanaian musicians have adopted foreign style of making music which is not helping the industry, he said in an interview on Showbiz Agenda on Zylofon 102.1 FM, with host, Sammy Flex.
“One mistake I see now is the adoption of foreign ways of making songs, be it language or pronunciation. The Nigerians love our language and that is the trick to penetrate their entertainment market”, he said
Tic added, the secret to how his songs broke borders and made waves in other countries, is because he stayed true to his roots.
According to him, he adds the natural Ghanaian feel to his music and that is what made his songs “Kangaroo” and “Fefenefe” hits songs back in the day in countries like Nigeria and other foreign countries.
Tic further advises Ghanaian musicians to project Ghanaian culture in their songs saying, “The Nigerians have their own culture and they make that evident in their music. Why then are our musicians trying to copy their style.”
