Seasoned Ghanaian guitarist, Ackah Blay has joined the train of industry players pushing the agenda for the ban on the playing of foreign songs on local television and radio stations.
Speaking to Sammy Flex on Zylofon 102.1 FM, the “Take Away” singer, called on presenters to stop promoting songs of musicians outside the shores of Ghana.
“We need to stop playing foreign songs on our radio and TV stations. Start promoting Ghanaian songs because most foreign artistes whose songs enjoy airplay in Ghana do not regard the country’s music”, he said.
He pointed out that, hardly will you hear Ghanaian songs on platforms outside the country.
Ackah Blay indicated that the act of playing foreign songs in Ghana is only hurting our music industry.
However, radio and TV personality, Kwame Dadzie, has disagreed with Ackah Blay. Accpording to him, gone are the days where foregn songs enjoy airplay in Ghana than local songs.
“In recent times, we play Ghanaian songs 80% of the time. I therefore disagree with Ackah Blay on his submissions”, he pointed out.
