0

“Dead Heat”, another dramatic presentation of poetry conceptualised & directed by Oswald Okaitei, one of Ghana’s finest young poet, spoken word artiste, artistic director & playwright, is scheduled for the main auditorium of the Accra Arts centre.

The poem which prophesied the current situation of USA and her relation with the African states, about twenty three years ago, together with other poems have been stringed together into plots and spiced with music and other theatrical flavours is prepared to awe every member of the audience on that day.

“Dead Heat” also from the poetry web of Prof. Lade Wosornu  is produced by Play House.kom & Philjoe Multi media and supported by Accra Centre for National Culture and Values For Life Gh. It is one of the few dramatic presentations produced in Ghana.

The story is set in the US Embassy in Accra (in the 21st century) and portrays the worries of African citizens (bundled in poems also by Prof. Wosornu) and the relation between a US Consul and the many Visa seekers. It is presented as a bricolage—fusion of drama, poetry & music in one story.

Prof. Lade Wosronu, author of the poems, is one of the few Ghanaians who have broken the myth—that science and creative arts have no strong connection. He is a prominent figure in the Ghanaian literary & academic landscape, an essayist and columnist on a range of health issues in Ghanaian papers. He has three collections of poetry works—Ete’ & Other Poems, Celestial Bride & Other Poems and Journey Without Ends & Other Poems… Some of his works mostly read and learnt in schools are The Master Brewer (in Senior High Schools ) and Desert River (now learnt in Basic Schools).

The rate for entrance is Gh 10 cedis for students and Gh 20 cedis for others and the proceed from the tickets are dedicated towards purchasing books for a Reading project for less privileged communities in Accra—Jamestown, Mamobi-Nima, Chorkor and Osu.
