Politics Taking Over Traditional Festivals In Ghana – Mr Fio Richardson Commey

Head of Performing Arts & Programmes at the CNC, Mr Fio Richardson Commey, has stated in an interview on Zylofon 102.1 FM’s Showbiz Agenda that, partisan politics have taken over traditional festivals.

Highlighting on some of the challenges facing traditional festivals lately, Mr. Commey cited the need  for politics to be separated from such festivals in order to ensure a smooth running of the festivities.

“It looks like partisan politics is getting hold of our traditional festival which is bad”, he alluded.

He mentioned that, certain political parties take complete advantage of the festivities to drive home its political ambitions.

According to him, festivals are faced with sponsorship challenges because some sponsors prefer to disassociate their brand from certain political parties.

He called on traditional chiefs and leaders to disaffiliate these festivities from any political party whatsoever.
