H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of Ghana has broken the silence on the dismissal of the EC Chairperson Mrs. Charlote Osei.
While addressing delegates at the 26th National Delegates’ Conference of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the Koforidua Technical University, the President made it known that his action to remove the EC Chairperson was made within the boundaries of the constitution.
“I acted in the actions that led to the removal of the EC Chairperson and her deputies according to the statutes of the constitution; there was no malice in my actions”
He pointed out that his actions were not backed by any malicious intent but rather under the guidance of the constitution.
The dismissal of the EC Chairperson has been challenged by a concerned citizen in the court of law, criticising the power of the judicial committee to make such recommendations.
