Runner-up for the Miss Ghana 2015 beauty pageant, Afua Asieduwaa Akorfa has vouchsafed that the Miss Ghana Pagent was not an escort agency thus debunking allegations reported by former queens of the Miss Ghana beauty pageant.
She made her defense in an exclusive interview with an anchor of Joy News. According to her, there was no truth in any of the allegations leveled against the organizers of the Miss Ghana beauty pageant.
“There is no truth to ‘what we are hearing’, I wasn’t used as an escort. The Miss Ghana has never been an escort agency. There were sponsorship meetings we had that we were accompanied by our organizers.”
She is the first former queen of the Miss Ghana beauty pageant to deny pimping allegations that have hit the Miss Ghana brand recently.
In recent days, the Miss Ghana brand has charged with claims that the organizers of the beauty pageant, Exclusive Events foisted contestants through awful experiences.
The winner of Miss Ghana 2017, Margeret Mwintuur Dery a few days ago resigned as the reigning queen of the Miss Ghana beauty pageant after labeling the pageantry a scam.
However, Margeret Dery’s resignation is not the first of its kind in the history of the competition. Other former winners of the pageant including 3 Former Beauty Queens Miss Ghana 2010 – Stephanie Karikari, Miss Ghana 2015 – Antoinette Delali Kemavor and Miss Ghana 2013 – Giuseppina Nana Akua Baafi and 1 first-runner up – Margaret Kuma-Mintah did same.
