Miawani Residents To Boycott 2020 Election Over Lack Of Developmental Projects


Residents of Miawani in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern region are calling on government to provide them with social amenities like schools,water and fixing their bad roads or they will boycott the 2020 general elections.

The road is in a deplorable state thus making mobility difficult and affecting business activities.Many of the residents stated that the roads have become a challenge for drivers, business and market women to drive and cart their goods to and from the area.


According to them, government should fix the roads or forget about us voting here. ” We are calling on the government to fix our roads otherwise we will attack any politician who comes here to campaign.they said.For many of these residents, government has failed to fulfil its promises of constructing roads or rehabilitating them.

Moreover academic activity has come to a halt in the area in the area after teachers abandoned classrooms over dilapidated state of their school building.Most of the classrooms have developed cracked floors and walls crippling education in the area.

However, the community lack portable and safe water,a visit to the place reveal that they drink with animals and this has caused severe diarrhea since most people also eased themselves close to the river side because they lack toilet facility as well.
