Ghanaian comedian, Kojo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has taken a swipe at the organizers of the Golden Movie Awards.
In an interview with Sammy Flex of Zylofon 102.1FM, the actor found fault with the board’s decision to disqualify Kumawood movies as a result of poor production, especially the excessive use of drones.
“How can Kumawood movies be excluded from the scheme, is it because we use or do not use drones. What are they talking about? Are they trying to kill the industry? They should give us a break”, he lamented.
Lil Win further questioned the credibility of the scheme, claiming anyone can come up with the idea to create an award scheme. According to him, the Kumawood industry can be sustained with or without their award, but it will be sheer disrespect if the organizers blame their decision on poor production.
He added that, the Kumawood industry has birth a number of “Big” Ghanaian actors, who are now international and hence, they need to be appreciated for their contribution.
“Who do they think they are? In Ghana, anyone can come up with the idea for an award show just to sideline the Kumawood industry.
But they forget that, all the big actors especially the likes of Van Vicker made their debut through Kumawood movies”, he stated.
