General Secretary of Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Zachariah Abdullai, aka Zach has refuted claims by Kumawood Actor, Kwaku Manu on Delay Show that, industry players are not helping the Ghanaian movie industry.
The Kumasi-based actor, in the interview lamented that President Nana Akufo-Addo has never met the producers, actors, actresses, marketers and directors to discuss challenges bedeviling the Ghanaian movie industry.
Manu added that, the executive members of FIPAG have not made any efforts to meet the CEO of Zylofon Media, Nana Appiah Mensah to solicit funds through the Zylofon Arts Fund (ZAF) to revamp the industry.
He therefore expressed fear, saying, in the next four years, they (actors) would have to sell coconut in order to survive, if nothing is done to avert the ailing state of the Ghanaian Movie industry.
Zachariah, on the contrary, stated that Kwaku Manu’s concerns are as a result of ignorance of issues involving industry players.
According to him, Kwaku Manu is simply apathetic.
Speaking to Sammy Flex on Zylofon FM’s Showbiz Agenda, Zach said:
“We meet producers and actors as well as other industry players to discuss matters concerning the movie industry and most times, Kwaku Manu is not present. He doesn’t contribute when he is present either. Also on the issue of Zylofon Arts Fund, we have meet the Board and we are awaiting response.”
