Celebrated hiplife/highlife artiste, Kaakyire Kwame Fosu, known in music scenes as KK Fosu, has brought to light how he managed to win two awards in 2005’s Ghana Music Awards.
In an exclusive interview on Zylofon FM, he disclosed that he was acknowledged for the award because he had an insider in Charterhouse.
He told Sammy Flex that, had it not been for the intervention of Abraham Ohene Gyan, former board member of Charterhouse, he[KK Fosu] would have never been honored with an award in Ghana.
“I can say without shame that Abraham Ohene Gyan influenced my nominations and my win at the VGMA’s. He did that because I am like a son to him”, he said.
KK Fosu explained that, he has great relationships with the group that started the initiative for the scheme, hence, knows the proceedings of every Charterhouse board meeting.
Though his assertion may have stripped him of the reverence the award brought him, KK Fosu still insists his musical talent is unbeatable.
In 2005, KK Fosu was honored with two awards at the GMA’s, now VGMA’s, one for Best Male Vocal Performance and the other for Contemporary Highlife Artiste Of the Year.
He won the awards over Rex Omar, Ofori Amponsah, Daasebre Gyamenah, Moses O.K., Lucky Mensah, Kweku Gyasi, Buk Bak, Adane Best & Dada K.D and George Jahrah,
