Former president, John Agyekum Kuffuor has been enstooled, Agorohene– King of Creative Arts at the AU Arts Festival last Friday.
The conferment was done by the honourable Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Abelema Afeku, as a result of his immense contribution to the growth and development of the creative arts.
The 2nd president of the 4th Republic of Ghana is well known for his unflinching support for the creative arts in Ghana, during and after his tenure.
In acceptance of his new title, President Kuffour said, “thank you for the title you’ve given me, Agorohene. Please, the media around, understand it correctly…. I will carry this title with some honour.”
Currently, a Leadership Centre is being set up by the John Agyekum Kuffuor Foundation on Legon Campus to serve as a Mecca for showcasing culture and civiliisation in Africa. The centre is expected to provide a space for exhibiting creative arts of all forms- visual arts, spoken word, gallery, theatre arts among others.
