Guru NKZ says Ghana music industry needs more organizations as Zylofon Media to progress.
Born Maradona Yeboah Adjei, he mentioned in an interview with Mikki Osei-Berko on TV3’s evening show, After Hours that, Musicians Union Of Ghana (MUSIGA) has the structural framework to make things better, but the body is not operationalizing the structure as Zylofon Media is doing currently.
“Systems should function. There should be a system guiding music. How well is MUSIGA working to ensure that musicians get what they are worth….We need the likes of Zylofon Media. So far, their presence has been felt in our creative arts industry. Systems have begun working.”
In the same interview, Guru also disclosed that being rejected by awards scheme, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) inspires him to move on in his music career.
The “Lapaz Toyota” hitmaker said, “…..whatever I have gone through in my music career- ups and downs. Not being recognized for hard work is disturbing to the artistes and their fans…..I personally do not have any problem with Charterhouse. They are trying their best to make things happen.”
Guru is undoubtedly one of the best rappers in Ghana, blessed with hit singles such as “Samba”, “Pooley”, “Mpaebo”, “Alkayida” and “Bad Guys” amongst others.
