Ghanaian Afro Soul musician Sherifa Gunu, has threatened to beat up any deejay who does not play her latest single “kelewele”.
Gunu, who jokingly made the “threat” on Zylofon 102.1 FM’s Judgement Board segment, questioned the reason why deejays do not take delight in playing indigenous traditional songs.
“Kelewele”, a strong traditional dancebale tune with a hip-hop touch, features Turaz and is produced by IbeeOnDeBeatz.
“I will fight every deejay and radio station who would not play this song of mine. It is a good song, and so I urge every deejay and radio station to play it frequently”, he admonished
Gunu who is popular with her strong stage performances, is noted with songs like “Sherifa Sherifa” which she featured rap King Sarkodie, “Salamatu”, “Beautiful”, “Dingo” which featured Michael Adangbe, “Yumiantabah”, “Saleman” which had D-Black just to mention but a few.
