Ghanaian reggae musician and radio presenter on Zylofon 102.1 fm, Blakk Rasta, has asked all award schemes both local and international to leave him out of nominations if voting has to be based on monetary terms rather merits.
According to the ‘Barack Obama’ hitmaker, he prefers his fans to channel these resources into more profitable ventures such as buying his album ‘Timbuktu by Road’ or helping the less privileged in the society.
In an interview with Sammy Flex TV, he said he would only accept honorary awards or awards based on the decision of a voting academy.
He stated that unlike other artistes who would pump huge sums of money into voting in other to win an award, he felt he would be taking his fans for granted if he did same.
“I heard the other day Stonebwoy spent about GHC 50000 just to organise a voting party. That GHC 50000 can do a lot for the orphans”, he added.
Blakk Rasta who has being an award winner both locally and internationally feels that voting for an award is more beneficial to the organisers than the winners.
“I would not want to be part of any award scheme being it Ghana Music Awards, Grammy Awards, South African Music awards or any music award around the world”, he explained.
