President of New Edubiase, Abdul Salam Yakubu has scornfully discarded the invitation from the FIFA Liaison Team to clubs to submit ideas on the way forward for Ghana football.
In an interview with Jeffries Kwabena Sintim-Koree (Chaskele) on Zylofon 102.1 FM, Yakubu, obviously was fumed at the current state of affairs as regards football, in Ghana.
“I have no idea for the liaison team. Whatever they intend to do, I’m with them. Nobody forced me to join football so I can quit at any time. I’m on record to have said that I will quit football last year but you can never say never in football. All my players are home, and there is too much pressure from the players. It was a worry for me but I’m okay”, he lamented.
His fury is as a result of the ban on all football activities in the country, owing to the fact that his club was clearly in pole position to qualifying for the premier league next season, as they sit pretty at the summit of the log in Zone 2 of Division One campaign.
Football governing body, FIFA in consultation with the government of Ghana, has set up a liaison team to see to the structuring of Ghana football, after the government sought an injunction at the courts to ban all football activities in the country following an expose by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, on the rot bedeviling football in the country.
