Ghanaian highlife artiste, K Wusu have disclosed in aninterview on Zylofon 102.1FM
that highlife music in Ghana is failing becausehighlife legends have failed to push
the young artistes.
According to him, most highlife veterans were looking out forthemselves and did not
train youngsters to be like them hence the struggle tobreak through.
He explained that another way that veterans have not beenhelpful is due to their
halt in recording songs under claims that the industryis collapsing meanwhile
artistes from different genres were still making songs.
“They stopped recording songs when music distribution movedfrom selling on discs to
the internet and DJ’s, they were only looking out forthemselves.”
He expressed gratitude to the likes of Daddy Lumba in hisrole in the breakthrough of
artistes like Ofori Amponsah, Felix Owusu, KwabenaSunkwa, Akua Serwaa Bonsu and a
few others.
