Ghanaian film maker Kofi Asamoah has opined that the recently held Ghana Movie Awards (2018) was a failure by all standards.
Kofi who spoke to Sammy Flex on Zylofon FM’s Showbiz Agenda said “Ghana Movie Awards failed by all standards humanly possible. …It failed in organisation, it failed in preparation, it failed in making people see it as a valuable and reputable award.”
The award winning film maker further elaborated that one of the key issues that led to the failure had to do with funding. According to him the underlying reason for almost all the occurrences was lack of funds. He also added that there was a level of individualism, as industry players did not team up with Fred Nuamah, organiser of the event. Kofi also added that wasn’t well planned and that also contributed to it’s failure.
Kofi Asamoah recounted that the turn out for the event was low. Ghana Movie Awards recorded the lowest numbers in 2018. Red carpet began after 11pm and the main event opened at 12:52am.
He further called on industry players to team up to make Ghana Movie Awards a successful and reputable scheme.
