The depressing issue of female artistes not being able to last in the industry seems to frustrate most of these female artistes including dancehall artiste Shegah who believes the cause of this problem is by virtue of the fact that female artistes do not get the necessary support. A reason blogger Kobby Kyei seems to disagree with.
Airing his view on ‘Showbiz Agenda’ with Sammy Flex, he stated that, “I feel the female artistes are not consistent because I don’t really hear about Shegah herself and her dancehall songs seems to be the hard ones which Ghanaians roll with. Looking at the likes of Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale and Samini, they try to fuse in the Ghanaian style which makes everyone vibe to it hence she should add the Ghanaian feel to her songs if she wants her songs to trend in Ghana. Collaboration is one of the problems hence the male artistes should try and collaborate or try to fuse these female artistes together.
In relation to the female artistes not lasting in the industry, it depends on their materials and how they back them with videos to push them because the male acts are very consistent and are always working hard but with the ladies, I feel they are more relaxed and I don’t know if it is the fault of their management but I think they should really work hard because the media is always there to support.”
He concluded by urging the Ghanaian female artistes to be consistent to remain vibrant in the industry.
